Skiing Activities
The Gunnison Valley is home to some of the best skiing in the country! At the north end of the valley we have Crested Butte Mountain Resort which boasts a natural charm that is truly unique. Whether you're a novice or an expert skier or rider, you'll find terrain that suits your skill level. The resort offers a wealth of well-groomed green and blue trails for everyone to relish. For those seeking a more challenging experience, there are lengthy, steep cruisers and the renowned North Face and Headwall with their extreme terrain. This mountain truly offers it all.

In the south end of the valley you will find the family friendly Cranor Ski Hill. Though originally privately owned, Cranor Ski Hill was sold to the city of Gunnison and opened to the public in 1966 under the condition that it would always be operated as a ski area. The Cranor Ski Hill has a single Poma Platter Surface Lift. There are four runs available varying in difficulty and a lodge at the base that offers concession items for purchase. The lift at Cranor Hill operates based on snow conditions.

In addition to our lift serviced downhill skiing, the Gunnison Valley is home to some excellent Nordic and cross-country skiing as well. The Gunnison Nordic Club is a non-profit organization which grooms trails throughout the Gunnison Valley. To the North the Crested Butte Nordic Center provides 50km of groomed trails.
