1. Cattlemen's Days Carnival

2. Annual Balloon Rally


Kick off your Independence Day with Gunnison’s beloved 4th of July Balloon Rally. This event is a cherished tradition, featuring colorful hot air balloons. The balloons will launch at 6:30 AM on July 4th, 5th, and 6th (weather permitting).







3. Family Fun in Jorgensen Park


Festivities for the day start at 4:00 PM in Jorgensen Park. Plan on a day filled with fun activities, games for the kids, SUP demos, a Pup n' SUP race, beer garden, and food vendors, ensuring a delightful experience for families and individuals alike.


4. Live Music by Stoplight Observations


At 6:30 live music in the park starts. Bring a chair or picnic blanket and enjoy music by Stoplight Observations.


5. Fireworks Extravaganza


As the sun sets, prepare for the highlight of the day—the spectacular fireworks show at Jorgensen Park. The Color Guard and National Anthem start at 9:15 followed by a dazzling display of pyrotechnics; the perfect way to cap off the day’s celebrations. Bring a chair or blanket, find a comfortable spot, and enjoy the vibrant colors lighting up the night sky.



Crested Butte’s Celebrations


1. Pancake Breakfast


Start your day in Crested Butte with a hearty pancake breakfast hosted by the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Volunteer Squad. This community event not only offers delicious pancakes but also supports a good cause, with proceeds benefiting the Fallen Firefighter Fund and the Crested Butte Fire/EMS Explorer Post.


2. Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3rd Marathon


For the more active celebrants, the Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3rd Marathon is a must. This scenic race takes runners through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the area, ending in the heart of Crested Butte. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun challenge, this race is a great way to start the holiday.


3. Crested Butte’s Parade


Crested Butte’s parade, held on Elk Avenue, is another highlight of the 4th of July. Known for its quirky and creative floats, this parade is a true reflection of the town’s unique character. From whimsical costumes to imaginative themes, you’re sure to see something unforgettable. Cool off at the end of the parade route with the town water fight!


4. Music On The Mountain


Head to the base area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort after the parade for music from local opener JUST HOW and BoomBox. BoomBox is "a little house, a little blues, a little funk, a little rock and a whole lot of soul." Enjoy the music while the kids enjoy free children’s activities.
